More information

This painting depicts an open meadow surrounded by a large stand of tress. Through the meadow runs a path, to the left are three cattle grazing. In the centre of the painting at the edge of the trees is a small cottage.

This cottage was situated to the right of the footpath that runs beside Marlborough House, which can just be seen in the painting as a shape through the trees. Although the cottage no longer exists, the remains of its foundations can still be seen today.
