About the Artist
Born in Addlestone Surrey, Finn was one of the most influential of a generation of artists engaged with the development of art education in Britain post World War II. In the late 1950s and 1960s he was the principal of Falmouth School of Arts, now known as University College Falmouth. 1972 he became the principal of Bath Academy of Art at Corsham. In 1982 he retired from art education, moving with his wife to Tregeseal, St Just in Penwith, Cornwall. Over the next 20 years he painted with intelligence and energy to complete a sizable output of abstract paintings, collages, drawings and constructions. A major exhibition of his work at the Newlyn Art Gallery in 1989 made his work known to a wider public and he went onto exhibit in London and the North of England. Finn was a lifelong Catholic, his work often reflecting inner life and spiritual belief.
