Bradford, Robert (born 1945): The Expressionist artist framed as species, mixed media, 39 x 39 cms. Commissioned with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of the Darwin 200 celebrations.

In this work Bradford has responded to the Falmouth Frameworks Project by creating an integral frame using retro children?s toys. The clear acrylic cover has been installed to protect the work but it also gives added status and depth.
About the Artist
Robert Bradford grew up in South London. He studied at Beckenham School of Art, Ravensbourne College of Art College of Art and the Royal College of Art London.
He has exhibited widely in the UK, including at the ICA, London, the Arnolfini, Bristol, and Richard Demarco Galleries, Edinburgh, amongst many others.
He was a visiting lecturer at San Diego State University in California for five years, and has exhibited at the San Diego Museum of Art, Bernard Jacobson Gallery, Los Angeles, and the Stella Polaris Gallery, Los Angeles.
Bradford is now best known for his work in sculpture, particularly a series constructed out of plastic toys. He moved to Cornwall in 2001 where he is well known for his five annual Beast of Bodmin Moor Burnings and for his large scale 'Bombus Bee' built for the Eden Project in 2001-02.
