More information

Berthe Morisot was an important Impressionist. She was the sister-in-law of Manet and a close friend of Renoir. Renoir as a rule did not care for women painters - 'except Bethe Morisot'. He felt she had a gift for smoothing rough edges -'even Degas became more civil with her!'. Before she died she asked Renoir to look after her daughter Julie.
