The Art Fund Hugh Stoneman Archive

The Art Fund Hugh Stoneman Archive

Hugh Stoneman (1947-2005) was a Master Printer established originally in London, then Madron in Cornwall from 1995. Hugh was renowned for his unique collaborations with national and international artists. Working in dialogue with painters, photographers and sculptors, he ensured that, through the intrinsic qualities of print media, their work found new relationships between image and material.

Stoneman was one of the world’s most important printmakers during the second half of the 20th century. In 2008 the Art Fund purchased an important archive of 99 master prints produced by Hugh Stoneman. The majority of the prints were produced at his workshop in Cornwall when his reputation was at its height and his skills were sought out by major contemporary artists from all over the world.

A publication of all these prints is available from Falmouth Art Gallery priced £34.99 plus postage and packing.
