Michael Bickford was born in Falmouth and has lived in the town all his life. He has been drawing and painting since he was young and is completely self-taught.
He comes from a family who, for the last two centuries, have worked as Master Mariners or Trinity House pilots in Falmouth. This connection with the sea and Falmouth's rich maritime heritage has inspired him to produce many paintings of local vessels and life in port.He enjoys experimenting with different media and styles, always looking for something new and a fresh approach.
