Burt, Laurie (1925-2015)

After five years in the army, Burt attended evening sculpture classes while earning a living in the metal working industry. Sculpture soon became a passion of his, using it as a search for understanding. He attempted to create, utilising whatever means, the idea in his mind?s eye. He has also worked as a lecturer at Leeds University, Leicester Polytechnic and Falmouth School of Art (now University College Falmouth). Burt has had exhibitions at York Art Gallery, ICA Gallery and the Arts Council Gallery in Wales. He now lives and works in York.
