Born in Nottingham, from a child Cox has spent much time drawing and making models. His preferred medium is paper due to its ease to manipulate and inexpensive price in comparison to traditional sculpture materials. Cox received no formal training, first launching his career when he exhibited his work at the Nottingham Midland Group Art Centre in 1986. He has since been part of a number of exhibitions, received commissions from paper manufacturers, produced window display for department stores such as Harvey Nichols and has made a number of television appearances. His largest commission to date was for 60 figures for The Tales of Robin Hood attraction in Nottingham.
