Brought up in Cornwall, Crosby completing a foundation in Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art before completing a BA in 3-D at Kingston Polytechnic. He returned to Cornwall in the mid-1980s, working as a graphic designer, art school tutor and community artist while living near Falmouth. His primary interest is automata, due to the way this kind of sculptural and kinetic art crosses so many fields of creativity and skill.
