Upon the death of his father, Daniell was taken to London to be brought up by his uncle Thomas Daniell. Thomas was an artists and member of the newly established Royal Academy of Art. William travelled with his uncle to India, producing a series of aquatints on their return titled ?Oriental Scenery?. William was given artists watercolours and oil paints as a gift, he excelled at transferring his paintings into prints using the aquatint technique. Daniell was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1807 and made a Royal Academician in 1822. He is best known for his work ?A Voyage Round Great Britain?, published over 1814-1825, which includes 308 prints of coastal views.
